  Abandoned by Love
This is very hard to write and unless you agree with the premise the Jesus Christ is both Mercy and Justice. What you read will not be agreeable with many of your thoughts.

Ezechiel Chapter 18 verse 4
Behold all souls are mine: as is the soul of the father, so also the soul of the son is mine: the soul that sinneth, the same shall die.

Mankind beset by their frailties will fall into error when considering life and death and do not apply spiritual meanings to these two nouns. I will change the subject person to ‘we’. Most of us, ‘we’ reckon "life" the period of time in which, born of our mother, we begin to breathe, to nourish himself, to move, to think, to act; and he calls "death" the moment when he ceases breathing, eating, moving, thinking, acting and we becomes cold insensitive decaying remains, ready to be buried in our sepulcher. Spiritually this is not so, therefore let us examine these words to understand what Scriptures mean when we use these words, that is life and death. I will say we can never understand Paul unless we seek the meaning Saul who risen from his death on his way to Damascus to become Paul describes our new relationship with Christ. To do this I want to make you understand "life' and point out to you the actions suitable to life.
Life is not existence. Existence is not life. Plants and animals exist, but they do not possess the life, which we desire or should long for. The life of which I want to make you aware does not begin with the existence of the body and does not cease with the ending of the flesh. The life to which I refer does not start in a mother's womb. It begins when a soul is created by the Thought of God ready to dwell immediately in a body for which God created this image of His. It ends when sin kills it.
Man, at first, is but a seed that grows, a seed of flesh. It is not vegetable matter, or wheat or fruit. At first, we are nothing but an animal taking shape, a brute without a soul. Then comes the moment when God at or very near to the moment of conception gives to this animal seed an incorporeal part most powerful in its "subliming incorporeity”, is infused into the human conception, and a heart beats. When the heart stops life the soul leaves and continues towards it destiny when judged by Christ. Now the animal embryo does not only exist with a beating heart, but it lives according to the Creating Thought, and becomes man, created in the image and likeness of God, a child of God, a future citizen of Heaven and exists to live the creative thought of God, that existed in His mind for us.
But that happens if life lasts. Man can exist having only the image of man, but no longer being man. That is, his body due to sin becomes a tomb in which life is dead. That is why I say: "Life does not begin with existence and does not cease with the ending of the flesh". Life begins before birth. Life, then, never ends, because the soul does not die, that is, it does not fall into nothingness. It dies to its destiny, which is the celestial destiny ordained by the Creator of us all, that is eternal life or horrid hell.
As Ezechiel tells us in verse 4 above and Paul tells us we are dead to Christ. As Chrysostomos tells us in his liturgy, Christ died to trample on death by His death. Sin/death was annihilated by Christ by his death and we are according to our disposition, that is remorse for our rejection of God or lacking Charity towards either God or our neighbor, we are appropriately directed. We will hear welcome or I do not know you. Those who practicing the sacraments of the Holy Catholic and Apostolic Church with our soul resurrected will continue in a new life. Our soul dies to that blissful destiny, called the Beatific Vision, by dying to Grace, Christ Himself. Unfortunately to many this soul of many, their life destroyed by the disease of grave sin which is the death of its destiny will last throughout centuries in damnation and torture. If we are worthy of new life this soul, if preserved as life, reaches the perfection of living, by becoming eternal, perfect, blissful like its Creator. If we are spiritually dead, we have no soul. We are abandoned by Christ/Love. You ask, “Abandoned to what?” and vehemently deny the validity of the words? Abandoned I say to justice of course. Christ never leaves us He is either Charity or justice and we will receive the sentence we have earned.
Have we any obligations to life? Yes, we have. It is a gift of God. Every gift of God is to be used and preserved carefully, because it is as holy as the Lord, the Giver of Life, who gave it to us. Would you ill-use the gift of a king, let alone the God of gods and Lord of lords? No. It is handed down to the heirs, and to the heirs of the heirs, as a glory to the family. As Mary prayed, “His mercy is on those who fear Him.” Why then should we ill-treat a gift of God? How is this divine gift to be used and preserved? How is this heavenly flower of the soul to be kept alive to preserve it for Heaven? How can you achieve "to live" above and beyond existence?
The Catholic Church has clear laws on the matter and we have to comply with them. Use the sacraments to our spiritual advantage. Seek forgiveness through them. As you have read do not profane the Eucharistic Heart of Jesus who will become the Judge to whose justice we might be abandoned.
So, I say to you: do penance; open your souls to the Word; obey all God’s directives, be Holy and Perfect with God’s help as He is in heaven. If you consider your life is abandoned and your soul is already dead, come to or back to the true Life: to God. Shed tears of compunction for your sins. Abandon them not God.
Plead for "Mercy!" You must rise from the dead. Do not be a brute, a dead person alive, so that in future you may not suffer eternally.
