  The commandments of post-christian paganism
I post this because there are those who are diametrically opposite to us and it is useful to assemble their beliefs in order to understand them

The commandments of post-christian paganism
by Archpriest Vsevolod Chaplin

It is the time to become honest: today many Christian circles in fact believe in post-Christian paganism. Alright, why should’t we formulate its creed? It can be even proclaimed solemnly at the Porto Alegre Assembly just to mark the final victory over the darkness of fundamentalism!

First of all, the Ten Commandments:

I am the Basically Unknown Supreme Being (some stupid people were calling me God and even Father; sorry for that). I tell you people: believe in me, in anyone else or just in anything. It all doesn’t matter!

Still, don’t worship the terrible idols of racism, sexism, ageism, religionism, nationalism and capitalism. Liberalism and Marxism are allowed to a certain extent.

Don’t pronounce the name of your Lord in an exclusivist way. Don’t pronounce it publicly at all - it may hurt so many good people!

Celebrate Saturdays with the Jews and Fridays with the Moslems. Go to the beach on Sundays. Don’t work on all these days to show solidarity with those who are pressed to work.

Respect the founding mothers and fathers of Democracy and Enlightenment. They have made all people happy forever, even if some of you are stupid enough to disagree with that.

Don’t kill (if you are not a member of a liberation movement).

Steal only from the rich.

Rape and sexual harassment are forbidden. Paedophilia, too (until 2030). All other sexual behaviour is not subject to these commandments.

Do not say anything which is not politically correct: Big Democratic Brother is watching you.

Do not wish anything which is not in line with pluralism and tolerance: do not bother the Big Brother, control your thoughts from within.

And, of course, the Beatitudes:

Blessed are the poor, for they can criticise the rich.

Blessed are the tolerant, for they will inherit the Earth.

Blessed are those who hunger and thirst after social justice, for they will be never fed up with it.

Blessed are the pacifists, for they are well guarded by armies.

Blessed are the outspoken, for the final judgment will always be in their hands.

Blessed are freedom fighters, for they are always right.

Blessed are those who struggle with the darkness of the past, for they don’t care what will be said about them in the future.

Blessed are the oppressed for whatever reason, for theirs is the Kingdom of Media.

Blessed are you when you play a victim, for that brings you victory.

Rejoice and be glad, all of you, for your gain is guaranteed in this world!

Once again This is posted to remind us that many oppose what we believe and although we suppose they are in a minority their voices are so strident they overwhelm us with noise.

Christianity Today
by Archpriest Vsevolod Chaplin
When I was coming out of the hall I saw several lesbian activists gathered outside. They came up to me and stated with tears in their eyes that those like me crucified Christ and burnt Jews in gas chambers. I tried to tell them something about Holy Scriptures and its moral truths, while they cited at me the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. They were ‘Christian workers’ though. But do they really need the Bible? For them the basic criterion of faith is public opinion, sealed in law at best. In a word, the truth is what we like. And if it is accepted by society, you dare not let out a peep in protest. They wouldn’t crucify Christ. They would simply put him in prison for ‘extremism’ and forbid the Jews to wear plaits so that they may not propagate masculinity and religious fanaticism.

Thank You Father for sharing your experience

  Setting things straight by experience
Please allow me to give you some other pointers when you look at or examine the erstwhile “so-called prophets” in the Church today. I know that what my inner voice tells me and from my prayers for instruction and discernment about the source and rightness of what I hear interiorly, will or may cause you to scoff. That is really not my problem for you have the free will of a conscience that should be informed and then as is usual to make the burden of choice.
There are I believe two kinds of discernment one the Church’s teachings and two the prudential use of prayer seeking through prudence and wisdom for confusion of one’s mind to be crushed. Let me give you an example… I was urged internally to go see a certain priest for a very good reason. He has or had at that time a certain air of pomposity about him and the light around him was grey. He also gave out an aura of superb confidence in himself. During our subsequent conversation, he tried to tell me that the letters I write to priests in this diocese were insulting. I asked the question that was to be posed that si to do what I was told to do. “Father do you have discernment and fortitude, do you pray for these gifts? It did stop him dead in his tracks. I asked when he prayed for help why did he consistently refuse it when it came. Was it because it did not suit him and the person that offered assistance was not suitable in his estimation and it would also require fortitude on his part to accept it. Did he because of this miss the help he prayed for? It goes without saying I explained his problem and left. What he did afterwards is not my business, but I did explain to the very simple woman who was sent (urged) to help him, why her help was not used and she should try again.
What of discernment when examining visionaries, prophets and seers? Above all they must match scriptures and have proceeded from charismatic graces to sanctifying grace. This is absolute necessity and cannot be put aside. I asked Mary about those who speak in God’s Name. “Many are souls that are inflamed and truly believe it is God’s voice, some are blinded by their own conceit and it is only one or two speak for Truth. Soon only one will speak for Us”. Think deeply on those words and ask yourself what would you do or how would it effect your life if you heard it. You may of course ask God why he has not given you these insights. Do not forget prayer for the utmost reliance on God’s help. There is a scriptural prayer that works every time for me. Many of these inflamed souls that quite readily put their spiritual life into danger, through a stupid pride they should see and shun, one finds they are satisfied with their pronouncements on behalf of God and never make any further attempt to grow in spirituality. I find their happiness they hold as Joy and therefore they are correct. Also often times one cannot find sincerity in them and sees an absolute lack of the use of the Sacraments most especially Confession. The great saints in the Church as they climbed the flaming ladder of grace distancing themselves as far as God leads them from sin become extremely alarmed that even the their smallest sin committed is a dreadful separation from God. Sometimes as my mother, sister and my wife asks who are you talking to now as lost in silence I in a small way of my own but in a large and magnificent grace of God I have words with Him. Mary has said, “You will be asking questions even in Eternity”.
The true prophet and I do have a prayer that shows I might be one. As one priest told me when he heard it, "Let me tell you what happened and what I am going to do next. As you prayed the world turned blue then gold and went into a beautiful red sunset. You are for real and I am going before the Blessed Sacrament and thank Him He did not give it to me”.
Scripturally the true prophet and let us be honest this is perhaps a true image of what he or she is, a lonely person and may I tell you in these words.
What is a prophet? He is assertive loud and not easily silenced. Is it not amazing in the Old Law only one prophet was a priest. Was it not surprising that God made another marry a temple prostitute and here is the rub not one had any followers or confidants. They had only God and He made sure they were His and His alone, standing them apart. The burning in their hearts which is an agitation that gnaws at one’s very fiber when procrastination becomes a way to avoid keeping one’s covenant, one’s agreement with the Living God is very real and the sight of so-called holy people living in the filth of their pride hurts really hurts. These true prophets take on the mantle of God in the Old Testament and the role of Savior (Anointed) in the new. They mysteriously enter into a mystical priesthood. There are some, who pray to acquire, ask the Lord to make them small saviors never considering they want to be models or images of the suffering Jesus and Mary and will find themselves acting accordingly. Yet I write they really never want the suffering they must share in, that is Jesus’ and Mary’s. They are unable to consume the Chalice and continue blithely on as though sorrows are nothing and they are the living epitome of the suffering servant. I have overheard them use the very trite prayer “Take this Chalice from me”
As I was once told, “You are My Mystical Priest, go offer My sacrifice”. What is this sacrifice? It can only be the separation that makes them a creature apart. Remember we literally cannot climb the Cross, accept the scourges and the other instruments of torture applied by man to God without murmuring. Never can these prophets, so many of them, undergo the metal torture, which begins when fellow catholics deny the grace in the prophet that he has accepted in a very personal covenant with God. The very acceptance needed to start a life of infinite solitude is always refused in many cases once the mental suffering begins. A true prophet is stubborn in the eyes of the world. I would say he has probably never bent his neck to any man but is intensely persevering in the service of His Savior. A tremendous grace is theirs, a grace called zeal. Tell me in all your internet travels have you ran into anyone who fills this curriculum vitae.

  Holy saturday
Christ is Risen…

On what is called Holy Saturday in the Church, I was directed in my thoughts to contemplate how the early church. A Church not yet established but formed in the hearts of Mary, the Apostles and the disciples, spent this day. There had to be three areas of confusion more properly temptations that filled their minds. The Apostles separated from Christ must have been filled with a double fear, which would have been hard for anyone to overcome. They would have heard in their minds and thought how can mankind kill God, therefore how could Jesus be really the Son of God He claimed? How soon will the authorities come, to kill, us, our families and take our property? This was the normal Roman sentence for rebellion. Remember they were far from the happenings in Jerusalem.
Mary’s dreadful temptation would have been, will He return as promised. This would have been her great grief not as a belief but a constant whispering in her mind. The devil would not let her go unscathed. I will always believe and know that Mary, beloved Mother of Jesus and ours, would have prayed and prayed and prayed for Christ her Son to return. How much did God love Mary, his very special creation? He showed His answer, in a magnificent manner, to those who think upon this matter. Christ arose early from the tomb. He rose in less than three days. Which only goes to show Prayer can cause God to change His thoughts especially for the prayers of the pure.
