How many who practice the First Friday devotion know the promises made by Christ for those who fulfill the spiritual exercise or even know the conditions that qualify the practitioner for the final grace of repentance. Why do they not know? I will write and I m open to correction; it is only because the priest, their parish priest, does not instruct them in the promises, and how to qualify, to earn them? How many know to whom the promises were given and how the Church qualifies them? Does the catholic who religiously receives every first Friday really and truly receive the 12th. promise? Does the practice hold any validity due to the lack of Charity by their parish priest who fails in his priestly duty and fails to explain or better still give them the instructions on how to earn salvation through the revelations of this devotion to the Sacred Heart? They were revealed by Christ Himself to St Margaret Mary Alocoque and authorized by the Church as worthy of belief? Here then, for those who wish to take every advantage of Christ’s promises for their salvation are the promises.
The Church calls it the, "Devotion to the Sacred Heart of Jesus"
"Before the Most Blessed Sacrament cast yourselves into the Heart of my Son and in my Heart and atone for the desecrations, blasphemies and terrible sins of a godless world and for those who have separated themselves from the Body, the Church"
1. I will give them all the graces necessary for their state of life.
2. I will give peace in their families.
3. I will console them in all their troubles.
4. They shall find in my Heart an assured refuge during life and especially at the hour of death.
5. I will pour abundant blessings on all their undertakings.
6. Sinners shall find in my Heart the source an infinite ocean of mercy.
7. Tepid souls shall become fervent.
8. Fervent souls shall speedily rise to great perfection.
9. I will bless the homes in which the image of My Sacred Heart shall be exposed and honored.
10. I will give to priests the power to touch the most hardened hearts.
11. Those that propagate this devotion shall have their name written in My Heart, and it shall never be effaced.
12. The all-powerful love of My Heart will grant to all those who shall receive Communion on the First Friday of nine consecutive months the grace of final repentance; they shall not die under My displeasure, nor without receiving their Sacraments; My Heart shall be their assured refuge at that last hour.
The Church adds the devotion must be accompanied by Confession and a Holy Communion.
Consider now the opening statement made by Christ, Himself. What constitutes the actions necessary for this “entering” into the Heart of Jesus, which by scriptural definition is Christ abiding in us, that is known as a state of grace. This Grace of State comes with, or is the direct result of the Sacraments of Baptism, Penance or Reconciliation or the last rites. Since baptism can only occur once and the Last Rites make it immpossible to have been practice ot is a result of the practice then Confession is one of the salient points by which the practice becomes valid by the Church's teachings. Nothing else forgives mortal sins although the Church could claim and did that through the words in the Tridentine Mass, which begins with “Indulgentiam Absolutem” that venial sins are set aside. Since these words are omitted from the Novus Ordo the Hierarchs have scrambled to change the teachings and have made two unusual statements. One the actual Body and Blood, the Holy Eucharist forgives venial sins. Two that the opening section of the Novus Ordo is a penitential Rite. This last statement is quite comical and can only come from foolish minds, as there is I admit a confession of sins but no sorrow and no actual act of contrition or penitence. It was once explained to me that the mindset of the faithful was the determination of the rite. Well I am afraid I laughed in the priest’s face. How could he tell me in this day and age with the lack of teaching in the Catholic Church that never mentions sin or contrition for them, makes that statement true. It is an absolutely stupid statement, a forlorn hope. It is like fishing in an empty stream.
I will claim as I was taught by a Good Catholic Nun all those years ago that Christ could not share His Temple with His enemy. I have heard it taught in the Church the Eucharist for those not a state of the grace that sanctifies is of no consequence. It is extremely possible and is a very probable truth that Christ leaves the Eucharist when approached by a sinful creature. Would the Almighty God of providence allow sin to be commited. Though to present oneself in a grave sin to Christ is a dreadful insult and as revealed to St margaret and later to the Children of fatima reparation must be made by us from the sacrilege and blasphemy of those many acts commited in the Church today. The Church also teaches by the Council of Trent that the method so many claim of confessing their sins directly to God does not work due to our concupiscence. The Council also added that we cannot make a perfect act of contrition unless driven to it by some external act. This act would be from an extreme fright when death is imminent and cannot be avoided.
I have seen many of the faithful practice the devotion and where are the fruits promised? I have definitely understood from some their family lives are the 'pits' they readily admit they have no peace in their family, never making the connection between a lack of grace when they go through the first friday devotion. I have often wondered where is the consolation promised. How many families hang the picture of the Sacred Heart in their living rooms, let alone above the TV set, the magic lantern entrance into the foolish world? As for tepid souls, so many I see only go to church on Sundays and the first Fridays. It would be truer to say the vast majority in any parish never practice the devotion. I know of few parishes locally that have mass Friday evenings to facilitate the devotion. This leads to another point, how can a priest who has read promise number ten claim to practice the devotion when many of them seek comfort by avoiding many of their parishioners especially in the confessional. The confessional, the one place we know where hardened hearts are turned from stone, melted, and quickened by the Holy Spirit of Supernatural love and Sanctifying Grace.
If anyone wishes or has fortitude print this out give it to your parish priest and ask for his comments.
It is written, "greater Love hath no man than he lay down his life for a friend" Christ certainly did this not for one but for us all.
Sometimes I find myself in the very strong and eeriest of debates with fellow catholics over Charity. Many in these debates have a tremendous personal feeling their opinion is right and are greatly mistaken in their view of Charity. They count it as a feeling more akin to the love seen on soap operas, written in women’s romantic magazines and lifestyles of that genre. They see love as expressed and competed for on ‘pussy-cat competitions’ or as many women do, as a competition to attract the opposite sex by exposure of their bodies in tantalizing poses. Kindness, Pity even pain for the sinful state of brothers and sisters in our faith does not exist. Why is this so? I was once asked to leave a mass by the youth leader of a Catholic Church in
Very few priests come close to knowing their parishioners and that is a lack of Charity on their part. A great majority of priests never, if they can find any justification, hear confessions. They never teach us how we separate our souls from Jesus Christ, accidentally which is still a sin or deliberately. Better still, so we can all understand more fully, this separation, which we all deliberately accept by grave sin, is a very grave offence against Charity who is God in all His Persons. Many priests sin against Charity by never mentioning sin in all its forms or the spiritual weakness caused by little sins. These priests, through a lack of fortitude and a deliberate seeking of personal comfort, sin by allowing the paucity and meanness of catholic teachings today, founded and supported by the strong element of Luther’s teachings, to flood the Church. The sheer rottenness of the RCIA program, and its teachers, is disgusting. They are very like the young man who left Christ, as he could not give up the riches of this world (sin). We allow converts to enter the Church and never once are they taught to leave their baggage behind. Never is it mentioned what they learnt before is in most cases directly opposite to catholic Dogma and Practice. How many times have I discussed the phrase God’s love is unconditional and yet never received an answer to my question, “Why then did Jesus say? Repent! Repent! The Kingdom of heaven is at hand’ or ‘If you love Me, you will keep My commandments” God’s love (Holy Spirit) is conditional on our purity and rushes to us when we need the Kingdom of heaven and repent through the avenues our Providential God provides. I mean the Sacraments of Baptism, Penance, or Last Rites.
Charity is God and to know what Charity is in this world we must understand what Christ’s commandments were. First, what was Christ to us and in His Father’s eyes? He was God’s Word made flesh. Each and every one of His actions were an example of God’s instructions on how we were to live and we cannot avoid putting them into action. His example was as Jesus Christ stated, “I am the way, the Truth and the Light”. The only one’s who could be exact on the daily life of Jesus Christ were the Apostles, whom received instructions from Him for two or three years. It is amusing that there is only one record of any discussions by them over His teachings and that concerned their prideful conjectures on who would have the highest rank in heaven. We must include to a slightly lesser extent, the 70 odd disciples sent out two by two by Christ, to prepare the Hebrews for His approach. When the Church was established at Pentecost, the Church, or as Popes called her, the Mystical Body of Christ, was given the authority the Paraclete sent down and filled the Apostles to remember what He had taught them. Later, as heresies sprang up and those dreadful interpretations of Christ are still repeated daily in this time, four of the close followers of Christ and Paul appointed by Christ and given signs to prove His authority in them, wrote down their own imperfect yet perfect knowledge all inspired by the Paraclete. Unfortunately, mewling and puking scholars who claim more knowledge of Christ’s life through linguistic skills of modern teachings have changed the writings of those who were there. These ravening wolves, of which our sentinel priests never warn us, write new scriptural words and meanings to match their egotistical feelings and beliefs of what God did and even go so far today to advise us to do what we think Jesus would do and not, what did He do?
My advise to them is, “remember when you stand before Him and He asks why did you do this, why did you alter My words? Will you even then tell the truth and say, I thought because of my intellectual prowess this is what You said in modern terms and I am right. The use of your egotistical “I” cannot be expressed in writing as there is no font large enough, nor is there any font bold enough to suit the ego of someone so prideful, so dispossessed of the Holy Spirit. Nothing can express the disgust I feel when I see you as new intellectual gods of your own making following your pride and your prince sending your spiritual egos into the darkness of hell.
Charity is the acts of God in us. It is not the tawdry love of today’s romantic acts of sex and pornographic displays of our sex. It is a love that overcomes our distastes, dislikes, and disgusts of other’s habits and lifestyles. It is sowing the seeds of the knowledge of God in fertile stony or hard baked ground by whatever means necessary. Sowing the Love of God by strewing seeds of love by hand, by raking aside hard stones to expose the fertile loam beneath, even I say breaking through the rock and cement with pickaxe and shovel, that is Charity and until we practice it by example and persevering effort, we do not practice charity and never will.
Am I wrong? Your egos will tell you, I am that is for sure. Examine yourselves you priests and wolves and I will pray as Christ did through David, “Wicked Men have raised their voice against Me” and leave you in His hands and to His devices.
