Catholic Voting in Canada
The following is a letter I felt obliged to send to The BC Catholic Newspaper. Of course there will be those in the Church who will disagree with its content. So many times others insult our God in art, in speech and actions. Very few of us say, "We will take no more". If Christ says, as I believe He has to us all in His Church with the words, "Go teach all nations" meaning I have sent you. Christ's wisdom is such that He knows He can send us, urge us without fear we will harm His directives. He promised to dress our words with His blessing when He said, "Be not afraid in the presence of Kings or Princes or His enemies, I will give you the words". So let us obey Him.
Furthermore I hope that there will be someone will take upon him/herself to print the postcards and give them out for us to send.

Feast of the Veneration of the Cross,
To the Laity of the Catholic Church:-
Canada is about to have an election for a new and hopefully majority federal government. We can and should help for the sake of our country and of course for our beliefs. We can and should use our numbers to be an example of our religion and the Church’s teachings. We must, and we have no option but to defend the creative thoughts of the Trinity, to call for all Canadian citizens to receive their just rights. It is time for us to be proactive and not tepid. The other two great religions of the world, Muslims and Hebrews certainly do not allow their beliefs and their God to become a laughing stock and nor should we. Those two religions Hebrew and Muslim are certainly active against any perceived sacrilege or blasphemy against their God and his works. Must we be different and count our belief and faith as of no real value and account? Sorry but it would seem so.
We as catholics believe in a holy unity. We maintain we have a Holy Communion with the Trinity. We believe life begins at conception. We maintain the human race has no business, has no right to interfere in God’s creative actions, and certainly no one may deny the sanctity of human life.
We know, one way or another, we must evangelize and bring Christ and His teachings to our neighbors. What better way than to use this next federal election to live, demonstrate and support all our beliefs.
It is time we remind those who run for office in Canada, of the great numbers of catholics who can vote and will vote in support of our Bishops and our religious beliefs. My recommendation is simple,
*“Buy postcards, send four, one each to the head of the Political Parties, The Tories, the liberals, the Bloc and the NDP. Write on them, “My vote is yours if you declare and promise publicly to resurrect Bill C484 and guarantee to ensure the civil rights of all Canadians, from conception to death. *
The bishops have worked hard to maintain the visibility of this bill. Now it is our turn, it is time we stood publicly in unity beside them. Do remember how the Senate held the Bill up and keep in mind there will be a time when we may have to support a vote for an elected Senate.
Unfortunately, some of us have in the past have argued, we should not upset the Government they will litigate some kind of punishment against us by changing the tax laws. That is missing the mark spiritually and worldly. How many times must we run scared, be intimidated? Remember the Acts, "If it is of God it will succeed, if it is not it will die" Are we not yet convinced we are of God. We are God's people. So let us all act as God's people, the Catholics we are.
We cannot fail God on this one. It is our beliefs that are at risk. How cowardly, it would be, to sit on our hands and watch those actions we know to be wrong succeed and not have goodness triumph.
The priesthood must become involved in the parishes. Priests must use their pulpits to encourage us to vote according to our consciences. Consciences be informed by their, our priest’s words, as they teach us the dangers in which we are placing our souls if we find a way to spin our vote for those who would do away with the rights of all Canadians. The canadians in the womb, those who are parents and those who suffer in Hospitals and hospices.
Yours in defence of the faith
