I have read Nehemiah Chapter 8 especially the following verses.
5 And Esdras opened the book before all the people: for he was above all the people: and when he had opened it, all the people stood.
6 And Esdras blessed the Lord the great God: and all the people answered, Amen, amen: lifting up their hands: and they bowed down, and adored God with their faces to the ground.
Does it not make you wonder that the Hebrews could worship their Tanakh, Torah or Bible in such a convincing pattern. To get down with their faces upon the floor in the presence of the written scriptures means they were on their knees before what, “a written record of their God’s words”. Look at us as Apostolic Catholics, the fulfillment of those Hebrew scriptures. Look at our actions, we who are at the mass not just in the presence of God’s written words but in His true Presence upon His Altar and at times in His presence in the Tabernacle. Do we believe as the Hebrews did. I can’t say we do and neither can many of you. Examine our behavior before the host and the often committed abuses as we saunter up to the Altar often not in a state of grace to receive Him in our hands. It is minimalism and blasphemy at its worst. Am I right???
