The Church should never depart from the sacred Patrimony of Truth received from the Father, but at the same time she must look to the present to the new condition and new forms of life introduced into the modern world, which has opened avenues to the Catholic Apostolate.
The Council was not called for a discussion of one article or another of the fundamental doctrines of the Church, which has been repeatedly taught…. and is presumed to be well known and familiar to all. For this a council is not necessary. The world expects a step forward towards doctrinal presentation and a formation of consciences……. which should be studied and expanded through modern research and scholarship. In other words doctrine must now be evaluated in terms of contemporary learning and so made more readily understandable to present day worshippers".
My two cents worth. I disliked this homily then and when looking at the Church today, I dislike it even more. What did it say…sweet fanny
Fr Carol Woytla on Confession and its Importance
So the question is whether we can preserve our apostolic values in the deep absence of an inner life. A priest will imperceptibly turn into an office clerk and his apostolate will turn into a parish office with a routine just solving daily problems
May I add my two cents worth, JP2 writes perceptively and the question for any one of us is very simple. Do we have an Apostolic Inner Life, that of grace without this sacrament?
