It is the anniversary of the death of Diana, Princess of Wales. Many of you do not know that she received the last rites of the Catholic Church in the ParisianHospital as she was dying. All of us know of the efficacy of the final sacrament, the anointing of the sick. It was done by the Catholic Chaplain of the hospital, where she was taken. It was I believe witnessed by Madame Giscard d’Estaing, who had some kind of authority there, and who was called to the Hospital. It was also watched by a nurse, who worked on that ward. This nurse was a subscriber to a newsletter, with 30,000 subscribers, written by a fellow from BuffaloNY. She wrote to him and relayed what she had seen.
Fist of all the Chaplain was in the Hospital and was acquainted with Madame d”Estaing through his duties and did spend a long time praying in Diana's hospital room. I cannot believe that any catholic priest would refrain from acting charitably and not anoint a dying person. It is not part of his persona or training. Apparently all the time Madame d”Estaing prayed the Rosary.
How did I know and why did the fellow from N.Y. accept what I had to say. It was because of this story which he could accept and qualified it before two witnesses. , some weeks after Diana died and I too was praying the Rosary and I heard, "They can pray to her for help Michael". I had no clue what this was about. The next time I was saying the Rosary, I heard, “The English Rose is with us. They should ask for help.” I knew by secondary prompting Diana, Princess of Wales was the subject.
I did discuss it with my confessor at that time and he admitted from his sources, he was a priest that wrote and communicated with many people around the world. He suspected as much. I discussed it with another member of the priesthood, he said, “It was worthless information. What good would it do?” I replied if it converted one little girl who idolized Diana then it would be good.
A time ago, some years in fact, while at prayer, I managed to still my personal thoughts and enter into a place hard to get into, I mean the center of my heart. My thoughts turned towards the pseudo Christians those ‘wannabees’ who desire deeply with a great faith to be one with CHRIST. Poor unfortunates who having no Bread have chosen to live by, “every Word that comes from the mouth of the Lord”. Yet we know their trust in their interpreters and new bibles is unfounded and based on swirling sands that change with the wind. In the state of prayer, deep prayer I knew from Mary our Virgin Mother how much She looked for them to come into the Church. Her words were, “they have such faith, convert them”. I wish I could and above all I wish they would.
Let me tell you of one effort. I ran into one highly regarded protestant evangelist. A leader of some kind of campus christians, a group who has an unsavory record of confining those sucked into their vortex. We got him into the Parish Church. We had a group who prayed the rosary together every week night in the Parish Church. He produced a rosary and prayed it with us. Later we were explaining what we believed happened on the Altar . As we did we were interuptedby a charismatic woman who repeated what the charismatics believed in that Parish. We told him, "This is where at the words of consecration during the mass the water and wine changes into the Body and Blood. "Oh no Michael this is not true it is all symbolic". We lost him and she is still a person of holy note in the parish.
