Reverence, giving Christ His due
A few blogs ago I talked about my thoughts on bending one's knee to Christ or bowing the the mention of the Holy Name. Well I was at a mass where the majority of the Canadian Conference of Catholic Bishops were present, including one Byzantine. During the mass not one, from my vantage point bowed their head at His Most Holy Name. Furthermore it is as the Byzantine Bishop knows during the Mass Liturgy it is a good traditional habit to cross oneself at any mention of the Trinity. If I have not made my feelings clear let me take it a step further, catholics used to "beat their breast" when saying "Lord have mercy" or during the I confess when we say "through my most grievous fault" Oh well taking these Bishops as an example means so much for tradition.
I am also reminded of the horror pseudo Christians rale on and on over. I mean about Pictures of God and Holy Icons. I, as a catholic, see Jesus Christ everyday at Mass. When the priests hold Him up for our adoration, I do not think I am the only one or am I. JP2 said "So many communions, so few confessions, are they all in a state of grace, you do the maths" This he said to the American Bishops in New York.
The Jews would never give the Bread of the sacrifice to those who were dead. Contaminated by death, they received the bread of mourning. It is entirely likely and I wait from the screams of denial and the abuse that will follow. Look at this way and ask, if JP2 was right then many catholics fallen into the state of "Dead to Christ" receive the bread of mourning. Let's hear it from the Hiearchial Churchmen.
