Bishops and Trust
Just read Archbishop Weisgerber's statement on Zenit concerning the funds used for abortion advertising in Mexico. I might just have to apologize. It is a sorry state of affairs when I as a Catholic of seventy one years closing in rapidly on the seventy second year of catholic faith as I read it, think here we go again. What is wrong with the hierarchy do they not see we the faithful do not trust them any longer. Where is the honesty that Christ demands of His Apostles. Do they think we will all kiss and make up easily. The virtue of prudence makes us, the laity very careful. We, in Canada, remember the orphanage affair in Newfoundland and how a practicing psychiatrist had to be brought in to council the faithful in their despair. I know the Doctor in question.Did he LIE to me I do not think so. I remeber these spinnings. The spin put on the accusations made in a newspaper in the southern states on the homosexual problem in the priesthood that started to surface at the same time as the orphanage. The spin put out to combat it and the web sites that proved it to be true and the ensuing scandal that the laity's cash was used to pay off. The denial of Cardinal Ratzinger's letter by a fellow Collegiate Cardinal in the states that a web site corrected the Cardinal's words, his spin presenting a copy of the present Pope's Letter, that said what Cardinal Ratzinger wrote. It was not what the Cardinal from Washington DC spun for our digestion.
In the statement on Zenit, I did not see any denial of the Peruvian Hierarch's letter. just a question hinting at its validity. Some lawyer in Vancouver sent it. It had the Peruvian sender's name blacked out. What a pernicious attempt at dismissal. Will the Peruvian be asked to cancel the letter? Let's wait and see. This is the usual way it works. Look at the present disgrace in Boston by a local ordinary seeking money. What debts does he need to pay? There is I submit always something hidden in the Agenda of the Hierarchs today. Unfortunately we have seen this proven too often lately.
I admit there are many people in the Church that still trust them but look at the caliber of their faith. They use and control the Bishops for their own benefits. Kiss b.o.t. tom folks mostly. Their agenda especially when we view the many so called catechism classes they run, is to change church teachings bringing it so close and then closer to reform and protestantism.
The statement on Zenit calls for leadership. What kind of leadership. The present leadership is severely fallen in a catholic sense. We get mostly leadership that revolves around egos. I hope the hierarchs realize this and change, better information from those in the pews on the ground on their blogs. So far I have not seen on many of these web pages and blogs any information that puts the bloggers and web wizards into confusion and contradicts what I see and read. Yet all I see from this statement is stalling. I am afraid I could not in honesty tell any of my children and grand children to believe it and that is the crux of the matter.
When all is said and done is there a world wide conspiracy to destroy the priesthood? If so they, the bishops have certainly made themselves and their priests easy targets. The priests should not suffer so at the hands of their spiritual fathers.
