  The Tyranny of Division

The Internet just lately has been reporting on what might be seen as the plight of the poor priest under his master the Bishop. There are also those in the Church who feel called to call the Hierarchy to account for the way they run the Church. Those like the Voice of the faithful whose passion is right but ego driven down the wrong road. They stray I believe from the right path going their way. Anyone who reads my blog could say and I have been told my demands upon the priesthood are disgraceful. To those who have not been long in the Church, I suppose, they are according to what their knowledge tells them, correct.

What is meant by the use of the word “plight”. These young men and some older ones place their hands in their Bishop's hands and literally surrender their conscience to the Bishops’ whims. The vow to defend the Church against the whims of the devil has been changed to one of obedience. Their obedience is not blind but suffers under dreadful demands.

Consider the state of the Episcopal styles in the Church today. The Pope is very aware of Bishops state of mind since Vatican 2, of the false value placed upon the Bishops’ position in the Church and how they hold that they have absolute power in their diocese. Could, we not ask of most them, “Where does God fit in, in your plans? Where is His position with regards to your claim of absolute power in your diocese?” Remember the corruption warned of by Lord Acton.

This attitude and policies that come from it has led to a warning delivered fraternally and precisely in a letter by Pope Benedict XVI. He was very straightforward in his letter "If you bite and devour one another, take heed that you are not consumed by one another."

The above was published in, “Chiesa”. It is in an article about the division in Rome between the Italian Bishops and the Secretary of State.

Then again, last week at the anointing of three new archbishops, Benedict’s homily returned to the subject. “The first characteristic that the Lord requires of the servant is fidelity. He is entrusted with a great good that does not belong to him. The Church is not "our" Church, but his Church, God's Church. The servant must give an account of the way that he has taken care of the goods that have been entrusted to him. We do not bind men to us; we do not seek power, prestige, esteem for ourselves”.

There is absolutely no question in any Catholic’s mind as he reads these articles that the catholicity of the universal church is threatened by division. When the differences are recognized and an attempt to correct them is made by the sovereign Pontiff ,is it not already divided and moving beyond repair by mortal men.

There is for me a far worse application of the nightmare for some priests, the loss of their conscience that is. It is this, the poor priests, young men who know it is wrong and seem to be in a world from which they cannot escape. Read the following articles from the Internet. They cannot be denied since they have been examined by qualified authorities including the law. I do not write them to scandalize you but to give sympathy and support to all the young priests who need to know that there are some of us who will support them against the tyranny of sin, which is dividing and tearing the priesthood apart.

I know here are bishops who are true fathers to their priests and stand before the mob defending the church, but they are sparse on the battleground

  The Book of Malachi
This book is written by an anonymous writer, anonymous because his views of the errors and disgusting ways of the Hebrew rulers and priests. God's prophecies, we know last as long as he will and are forever. They are always against the devil and his confusing allies. Evil spirits not able to be original and must therefore keep repeating themselves. Malachi by the way means my messenger. Since the Holy Father this week has publicly corrected the Bishops in the Church for their behavior, it would do us all every where to read this book only four chapters long. especially ruminating over Ch 1 verse 10 to 14. I find contemplating a word that does not suit many of the priestly cast. I also would call to mind Cyprian of Carthage who said in his letter on baptism. "Who can absolve sins whose sins are not absolved" I know so many say as the Church does, it does not matter the priest is sinful, the Consecration still takes place. I ask though is that because the laity believes it is the Body and Blood and are ignorant of your spiritual situation? The Church also started teaching in the 1920's and a little earlier that those who are tepid are in a state of grace and will earn Purgatory. What then I wonder is the reason for God vomiting the tepid out of His mouth? Does He taste bad, so bad we will vomit Him as he controls the taste too.
