Abuse and more abuse.
How many times have we read lately and over the last several years of the ABUSE in the Catholic Church? How much of that publishing of attention on sexual abuse is a misdirection of the devil and allows the real abuse to slip by. Allow many people to say thank God it is not me.
I see and think often of how this abuse stems from and hides the real abuse of our religious life in the Church. There are if one considers the root cause three abuses that are the root of evil in the Church and we are all unfortunately wrapped up very tightly in their web and we are abject failures as Catholics and will pay the price when God says, "Did you ever be a working example of Me?" It could be as he says through His tears as Crucified Love, "Did you ever try to know Me? Did you ever really love Me?"
The three abuses as I think of them and in descending order are Pastoral Abuse, Pastor abuse and elder abuse. Let me define what I know about the Hierarchical Ranks of the Church. First there is the First Born/Elder Brother as laid out by God in the Old Law which have never changed. This gave rise to and accepted by the "Hebrew" Apostles who considered there was no problem in Appointing Peter as the New Elder Brother. Did not Esau get bypassed by Isaac, although somewhat dishonestly? Obviously allowed by God as it contributed to His Glory.
Then there are the Bishops themselves who have the pastoral overview for certain areas of the Church, and then approve Pastors and send them out into the Parishes. Then there are the Laity, some are billy goats and some are sheep. Pastors sent by Bishops are the Confessors and spiritual guides for the laity who live in the parishes under the jurisdiction of the Local Ordinaries. These are for the salvation of the Laity.
Let us look at how it used to work and how it does not work anymore and believe you me all the ransoming in the world will be of no use when answers have to be made. The questions will be to the Pastors of parishes, "Did you look after My Sheep for Me?" and to the Laity, "Did you hear My Pastors?"
The Laity Oh how awful will be their fate as many of them will not be able to deny and will have to state honestly, "I took not notice of any Pastor. I knew what You wanted and I taught what I knew as it felt good to my mind". This last is elder abuse of the sheep and goats. There are so many who know, because it feels good, it is what God wants. Interiorly they think, "He picked me to lead". It is the unspoken mental attitude of so many. We all know of those in each parish. No matter what the Priest says he is brushed aside then dreadful schisms and heresies foment in the Parishes. There are no good parishes if the Sacraments are not truly applied and practiced if the state of grace is not there. If a large majority do not confess their sins to the priest then how can one claim holiness for that Parish? Can one say the Virtue of Religion even raises its head in such parishes? Church teachings tell us the Virtue of Religion goes hand in hand with Charity. Those who lead, by the authority found in their leading and starring role in their own soap opera, are so guilty of Elder Abuse, I am frightened for their souls.
Now we have above this elder abuse, Pastor Abuse, the pomposity of Priests raised to the level of Parish Priest who see in it a demand for an unearned obedience from all and sundry. I am now, as I am allowed, going to separate the Priest, perhaps the Man God of his Parish, to isolate the man from the Sacrificial Ministry to which he has been raised by his ordination into Holy Orders. How many of them for whatever reason they can find, never follow or preach Humanae Vitae, especially on its latest anniversary. How many have taught the Sacraments and demanded that to be in the right disposition, one of Charity, we must use the Sacrament of Reconciliation? How many Pastors have taught the Church's old and official position found in the Baltimore Catechism on the wrongfulness of a personal confession to God and not to the Church Ministers. Never I can assure you. How many have dismissed Fatima as not necessary for salvation when Jacinta revealed that without the Sacrament of Confession to be used by a Catholic there is no salvation. How many pastors really know what the act of salvation really is? I mean closing our eyes in repose here on earth and opening them in Heaven, not purgatory.
Now look at the sacrilegious Pastoral Abuse from which all other abuse arises. Do I hear loud screams of denial, maybe not, since the very large majority of Bishops are already in denial. Am I the only one to see the lack of a spiritual fatherhood towards their sons, our priests? Am I the only one to see the turning of their backs to the Elder Brother, the Pope. If I can so can God who sees all. How awful and dreadful is the hell I have known for them. How so very awful is the pain of hatred that will engulf them in their next life. what I cannot understand is they know it all including the Fear of God and they are not moved. Let those who read think deeply and take advantage of God's offer of salvation accept His will do His will, re-inform your consciences remove the mortal sins from it and learn to properly trust in the Lord our God.
