What made Fatima a success and why was Medjugorie unsuccessful?
Another two opposing events in the Church. Why is this so? Surf the Internet and see all the disunity caused by supporters of the different polarized sides. You will find even internal bickering for either shrines. Confusion reigns and why? Of course some Catholics will say it is the devil's work as he is the source of confusion. Quite true, but how he was able to work his filth is the real question.
The real reason is the disgraceful pastoral works of the Hierarchy, who would have looked the other way at Fatima and did so in Croatia. The same hands off position took place at both sites. I can even make a case for the same occurrence at Lourdes, except the Faithful turned up too quickly and forced the local ordinary's hands. He had no chance to waffle and dance in the wind. The attitude of the Hierarchs is not conducive to an atmosphere of belief in God's providential care of His Children and this is an occurrence on many fronts in the religious life of the Church today. That is why Pope Benedict has come out strongly that the local bishops have to make an inquiry into the validity of the circumstances and religious life of anyone who claims supernatural acts of holiness, even down to an exorcism. Fat chance that it will happen though.
I would like to point out a salient fact which all of us must consider. In this world of ours there were two laymen who set their Church to rights. One was our Lord and Master Jesus Christ. No, to the Hebrews He was not a member of the House of Aaron nor was He a Levite, and therefore not a priest. He did however found a Priesthood based upon Himself, as Son of God. remember the phrase He used, "All power is given to Me". The next one whom we must also confirm as a renewal of a proper sort in the Church was St Francis of Assisi. He certainly brought the Church back to the basic ways of Charity. Is he not also called the "Perfect Imitation of Christ". Another layman stepped in to make up for the lack of Pastoral Care.
So what did Fatima have that protected it, that Medjugorie did not? Fatima had a layman that would not let the three little peasant children suffer abuse. Fatima had a father and an uncle that made sure his children and Lucia were not questioned ad nauseam by priests and foolish people. Ti Marto, Francesco and Jacinto's father prevented many interviews by priests who had one point of view. They were by Lucia's acknowledgment, determined to trip them up and make the children admit to lying; the administrator who bullied the children and threw them in jail for not revealing the secrets to him; the crowds who tried to question the children and have them petition Mary for them, were all kept away by their Uncle Marto, who literally slammed his house door in their faces.
Who did this at Medjugorie? No one did. Everyone and all were allowed to question children, all so young and unsophisticated. Clever priests, whose agenda we do not know, literally overwhelmed these poor early and preteen unsophisticates with their priestly authority and then labeled them liars. How many of you critics with young relatives of your own have decried these poor country children as liars. Something you would not have let happen to your own. Shame on you all. These Croatian peasant children literally had no one to protect them, were manipulated even by their own relatives, using them to build luxury homes and charging money to paying guests. Then in your lack of charity so many of you denigrate them. How harshly you will pay. I say so few priests defended them, just used them to make money. Their countrymen used them to further political ends and the children's rewards, nothing but insults and names.
Am I wrong, of course I am for I will be judged by the same people who used them to satisfy their own egos, personal wants and opinions. Somewhere here is the sin against the Holy Ghost, "Envy of another's spiritual good". Let us see what God thinks of your diatribes against His Mother's wards. I hope he is not unduly harsh only as much as you have been to the young children of Medjugorie. He might show the same lack of charity as you have shown.
