Why is Mary truly Immaculate?
We all know that one of the accusations made against Catholics is, "we do not know scriptures". I counter our opponents, and make no mistake they are against us, with, "You do not know tradition in the form of what laws we are to follow". Take a look at the Old Law it is still current Jesus told us, "He did not come to change it only to fulfill it". Is that not true? Therefore Jesus and His Mother therefore can only be judged by what they were born into as Creatures of God, by the Old Law. I would suggest that you should read a former blog of mine found at
I tried to make it obvious what Mary was, by human heredity, destined to be under Jewish law a very special fulfillment of the Old Law. It is my belief and it will always be that from reading scriptures both the Old and the New, our lives, both spiritual and worldly, are governed by God's laws and they show us our inheritance. Whether we are "first born/elder brother" or eldest daughter we all have a role to play according to the Laws of God. Even as Paul wrote "adopted" and as Christ taught in the Parable of the Prodigal Son. We have therefore a family to return too without obstacles (if Baptized solemnly) unless we have built them ourselves in both this world and the next.
I believe Mary was Immaculate not for the reasons we read about today, although these reasons are good, sincere yet do not fully recognize Mary's true circumstances in God's eyes. For me it is because Mary's soul was a Conception of God in His thoughts before Adam's soul was created. She our Mother just did not inherit original sin. She was created to be used in God's time before Adam's soul was thought of. Mary never lost and would not lose the original innocence into which God created us. Read the Wisdom Books and see created wisdom which is our destiny, if we accept it, played with the souls of men at God's feet as God created the world. Obviously Created Wisdom which many scholars talk about in describing us, one or two call it the spark of God's image in us, existed before the World was created. Mary was the ideal that Lucifer rashly objected to. Lucifer thought he was the most beautiful thought of God but we were. I mean in the concept of Mary's soul. A concept of God's mind that did not, could not conceive of sin. In the Old Law does not Habakkuk write your eyes are so pure they see nothing ugly (as sin)? No wonder in our concupiscent world we can see Satan's hatred of the Mother of God. Her soul, in God's eyes, supplanted him The Byzantines, in their liturgy proclaim, the Axion Estin,
"It is truly right to bless thee, O Theotokos, ever blessed, and most immaculate, and the Mother of our God.
More honorable than the cherubim and beyond compare more glorious than the seraphim
Without corruption thou gavest birth to God the Word True Theotokos, we magnify thee".
Unfortunately, like papal catholics, they change words. They have in recent memory changed immaculate to pure. The reason is it is a better translation of the Greek.
One other fact her soul; was so beautiful that Mary wrapt in the prayer of union with her soul, as Jews will say, resting on the Bosom of God so beautiful in His eyes caused Him to call her body to Heaven. He like us is unable to resist her or refuse her. Assumed into Heaven, they say.
