Before you read this I mention in the letter I was taught this in a different way so here it what I was taught. When you go to receive Holy Communion be aware of the dreadful future you face if you are not in a state of grace with your sins forgiven. God will leave and all you will have that is what you deserve food for the body, bread alone.
On and off this question has bothered me. I do have good reasons for thinking these words over. You see through ecumenism we have arrived in the Church to protestant theology. We have got there with stealth and sneakiness. These movements ably and abetted by the very deliberate pastoral ineptitude of the majority of bishops have brought us to John Calvin’s indefectibilityof grace, that is once baptized then grace is ever present and we are saved. Catholics believe in the sanctifying grace that comes with Baptism and should believe that for every sin committed there after the Sacrament of Confession, we are reconciled with God, our community and all the Church. For a Catholic to come even close to this heretic theology is a death dealing blow to our soul, a spiritual suicide. Yet in the Church we commit this act to ourselves. So many, many times I have heard in discussion, both inside and outside the Church, “I do not sin” Those in the Church who have told me this also add, “Therefore I do not need to go to confession”. These people go to receive Communion even daily. Look at what they do, they deny Jesus’ words, “You are all sinners”. They summarily dismiss the sacraments. I say if you throw out one you throw out Christ’s saving works and thus throw them all out and say by our actions, “We never needed You”. We can do it ourselves so we think. Is that true?
Now I ask is it not possible that God is unwilling to allow us to sin. Although by the great gift of Free Will He cannot stop us. Help us by our prayers He will. We know from scriptures many reasons conditions and the awful punishments sin will bring down upon our immortal souls in the next world. Saying grace and perseverance is all that is needed to share Eternity with God is a dumb mistake, a deliberate lack of intelligence in using the knowledge God gave us and the Church, the Mystical Body of Christ teaches us.
So I say and I have heard it taught in my youth at school in a different manner than how I now express it. When in blasphemy and sacrilege we present ourselves at the Altar to receive Holy Communion, do you not think God thinks, Enough is enough”, in His way. Is He there in you or with you on this sinful occasion? Does He then share His Temple the inner chamber of your soul with His enemy already there? Do you think then His enemy leaves? If you do you are saying the Eucharistic Body of Christ hidden in the Veil of Bread forgives sins. The Church has never taught the Eucharist forgives sins. It has said since the words of the Mass changed It forgives venial sins. It was always the words “Indulgentiam etc” that venial sins were forgiven. So for the sake of your eternal life, take no chances, consider the question again.
Perhaps part of your consideration should be, "if I am not in a state of grace what state am I in? Is it pride blasphemy and sacrilege? If it is any or all of the above? would Charity and the virtue of religion, that am I adoring God and giving Him His due exist in my heart?
