Sperm Banks and other Messes
There is a very interesting article at the above link. I have a problem, a big problem, with sperm banks and their secrecy. The man mentioned in the podcast has a large number of children, I would surmise that as there is no central sperm bank, but many banks in different areas of countries, states, provinces, counties and cities that in the main their use is very localized. Consider then it is very likely most of his sons and daughters live close within, if I err charitably, 100 miles. Is it not possible for them to meet and could even perhaps attend the same schools? What is there stopping a natural attraction occurring, a sibling feeling that is unrecognized for what it is? Then perhaps they marry and have children. What kind of children are born of incest for that inadvertently is what it is.
I have another thought, is "in vitro fertilization" a chemical act in a laboratory dish, an animal act or a act of procreation recognized by God. We know that God's gift to us as an act of love (I hope) between committed man and woman, is accompanied by a soul. What of the other acts, what gift accompanies them? The Pope JP2 has said a soul accompanies these acts and are all part of God's procreation.
